commi'ssion (-shn) n. 1.Charge entrusted to anyone to perform; order given to an artist, writer, craftsmen, etc for a particular piece of work.

The words above ring true, particulary 'entrusted'. It is the role of the designer/maker to interpret their clients wishes into a firm design direction. It is a very responsible role and one that cannot be underestimated.

Whilst it is not a cheap way to purchase furniture our clients tell us of the amazing journey they take. A piece of handcrafted fine furniture should last more than a lifetime - these are the next generations' heritage. I hear 'heirloom furniture' mentioned often and think it should be so.
